This is easily the most despicable behavior we’ve ever had featured on Best Gore so it’s not surprising it involves Thais. We’ve had articles about people who had been put through hell on Earth – Junko Furuta instantly springs to mind – but nothing beats what this little Karen girl went through since she was kidnapped and enslaved at age of 7 five years ago. And this poor child certainly has scars to prove it. Unfortunately in Thailand, a corrupt, failed state and a safe haven for criminals, if the people who did this to her have connections or money, they will face little to no punishment.
12 year old girl identified only by her alias of Air, a native of the Karen ethnic group from Burma was kidnapped by an abusive Thai couple when she was just 7 year old. The Thais took the girl to their house in Amphur Meuang, Kamphaeng Phet province where they held her prisoner and turned her into a slave and a household servant. After 5 years of being put through torture none of us could imagine, the girl managed to escape and sought help. The abusive Thai couple was arrested but denied to have had anything to do with the girl’s suffering and both were released on bail.
Whenever the girl didn’t perform as her captors expected, she was subjected to various cruelties, such as being locked up in a dog’s cage and having boiling water poured over her body. The girl has scars from being scolded all over. Boiling water damaged her muscles which connect her arms to the torso so she’s unable to move or lift her arms.
Air said that in 2008, when she was 7 year old, her parents were working in a sugarcane field and she was approached by the couple that owned a nearby field. The couple asked her with a friendly smile to come play in their house. Little and innocent as she was, the girl followed them and that’s how her ride through hell started.
Her captors forced the girl to do all the work and beat her up at the drop of a hat. At one point, about 3 years ago she managed to escape but the police, instead of helping her, brought her back to the abusive kidnappers who turned so much crueller after her attempted escape.
On January 31, 2013 she was sent to get the cat back into the house after it ran out and as afraid as she was that she would be punished if she tried to escape, she climbed the fence and ran for dear life. She approached some people and asked them to take her to a charity house instead of to the police.
Mr. Thanawat Sathit, the head of the shelter that took her in said the girl is now safe and is provided regularly with food, and has a bed to sleep on and clothes to wear. The shelter has their own security guard which gives the girl a little peace of mind because she still fears the couple would come and get her. She is scheduled to attend sessions with a psychologists to restore her mind which is severely disturbed.
The shelter officials brought in the representatives of the media to ensure the police don’t screw around anymore. As a result, the couple was charged but denied all accusations. Whether anything comes out of it – only time will tell. An investigative journalist went to interview the couple only to find out that they had abandoned the house and disappeared without a trace.
According to police files, the abuse started on May 20, 2008 and lasted until January 31, 2013.
